With the growing popularity of cardiac devices, including ECMO, there has been a resurgence in the use of invasive hemodynamic monitoring. This includes the use of arterial lines, central venous catheters as well as pulmonary artery catheters. It is imperative that transport professionals are familiar with these technologies including waveform analysis, so that safe and effective care can be provided during transport. Key safety factors, waveform analysis and unique consideration will be emphasized during this presentation.
Learning Objectives:
Identity arterial, central venous and pulmonary artery waveforms.
Describe key safety factors related to use of arterial lines, central venous catheters and pulmonary artery catheters.
Identify pitfalls related to care of patients with arterial lines, central venous and pulmonary artery catheters.
