Burn injury management is complex by itself within Burn Centers and Units, however management can be compounded with limited resources in the pre-hospital/critical care transport environment. These case studies in electrical, chemical/hazmat and thermal burns will help prepare scene EMS and critical care transport in leveraging care pathways with anticipating needs prior to burn treatment centers arrival.
Learning Objectives:
Upon completion, participant will be able to understand the teamwork that is involved in pre-transport care prior to arrival, interim and departure to a burn care facility.
Upon completion, participant will be able to identify the care needs of the patient and hospital caregivers related to the different types of burns that will be transported from scene.
Upon completion, participant will be able to describe and treat the hemodynamic process that gets interrupted related to burns and how best to stabilize the patient during flight/ground transport.
