A commonly quoted phenomenon in the business world is the concept of the “glass ceiling” for women. Actually, the problem is not a glass ceiling at all. It is a “broken rung” on the career ladder. Tom will explain what a “broken rung” is and give attendees examples and ways to spot and fix those broken rungs. This will be an interactive topic about females in leadership, and how we all (male and female) contribute to the challenges faced by this group.
Learning Objectives:
1. Define the broken rung theory and name at least strategy to mitigate it in the workplace
2. Explain how both genders hinder female leadership in the workplace
3. Define intersectional bias and identify at least one strategy to help combat it.
