The 12 Lead EKG, while primarily used for identifying cardiac ischemia, can offer a wealth of clinical information for providers in the dynamic world of critical care transport. This session will focus on using 12 lead interpretation as an indirect laboratory tool for assessing and monitoring electrolyte levels. This interactive and case study heavy session will require all attendees to take a different perspective for analyzing EKG morphology, but the result will be an expanded clinical toolkit that can immediately be used on your next transport.
Learning Objectives:
Upon completion, participants will be able to identify the importance of monitoring the QT/QTc duration and the causes of both long and short QTc durations.
Upon completion, participants will be able to recognize changes in 12 lead EKG morphology associated with electrolyte imbalances.
Upon completion, participants will be able to demonstrate a broader application for incorporating the use of 12 Lead ECG in their critical care transport practice.
