As the Assistant Director of the Transfer Center at Children's Mercy Hospital, I oversee operations of the region's most robust hospital-based transfer center. The CMH Transfer Center coordinates over 5,000 air and ground critical care transports annually, while simultaneously processing all hospital direct admissions, ED Referrals, and sub-specialty consults for a 384-bed quaternary free-standing pediatric hospital. During my course as the AD, I was heavily involved in the planning of an integrated facility design resulting in the Patient Progression Hub. The Patient Progression Hub is the first free-standing children's hospital operations center that combines people, processes, and technology. It was designed to improve patient flow from admission to discharge. Prior to my role as AD, I was a nurse on Children's Mercy Hospital's pediatric/neonatal/maternal critical care transport team.
