For over 25 years Todd has worked for Boston MedFlight as the Director of Safety and a senior Clinical Care Paramedic. He has spent 37 years in Emergency Medical Services, domestic disaster response, and international humanitarian aid/response sectors. He holds a Master of Applied Science in Humanitarian Health from John Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and has provided quality assurance and emergency preparedness guidance to hospitals and EMS/HAA providers and currently serves as a senior clinical paramedic for MA-1 Disaster Medical Assistance Team (DMAT). Since joining MA-1 DMAT in 1993, Todd has deployed numerous times serving in different clinical venues while providing clinical care for those at-risk populations post-disasters. Todd has worked and responded internationally with organizations all over the globe for over 35 years—Liberia, Togo, Uganda, Guatemala, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Senegal, Nicaragua, Haiti, and Saipan. Currently, he is a member of Samaritan’s Purse Disaster Assistance Response Team (DART), a ready-state international team specializing in providing emergent medical care, NFI distributions, and WASH to those in need globally. Additionally, Todd works with Clinics of Hope (COH) which operates 7 permanent medical clinics in remote villages in Togo W. Africa providing reliable and sustainable access to healthcare. He frequently travels to Togo to expand COH’s work, continue building/strengthening partnerships with the Togolese government and village elders, and decompresses clinic staff clinically/ operationally as needed. He has contributed to the critical care transport industry by publishing articles, co-authoring textbook chapters on Critical Care Transport & Safety topics, and has been a lecturer nationally, and internationally. Areas of special interest include international emergency humanitarian response in austere environments, safety management systems, fatigue mitigation, and mentoring.
