Snake on a helicopter! Now that I've got your attention, HEMS and fixed wing air ambulance operations are particularly prone to wildlife encounters, and in fact, typically report the most most bird strikes of any other helicopter category annually. This session will review a brief historical perspective, proven flight avoidance strategies, preventative equipment and current initiatives. And, yes, the story of a snake on a helicopter.

Upon completion, the participant will be able to incorporate several proven flight strategies to minimize the chance for a wildlife strike into their daily routines.
Upon completion, the participant will be able to recognize the importance of wildlife strike preventative equipment and advocate for its greater prevalence in our helicopter fleets.
Upon completion, the participant will be able to gain a greater understanding of current initiatives to highlight wildlife strike safety, as well as other important recent safety developments.
