You've heard it said that "children will compensate and compensate, then suddenly fall off a cliff." We believe that a similar curve exists for clinicians treating children: we keep hesitating to intervene/escalate, until the child suddenly decompensates.
This experience in our adult/pediatric rotorwing program led us to rebuild our approach to pediatric asthma, with breathtaking results. In this lecture, we will share a summary of all available evidence we have reviewed, how we collaborated with other pediatric specialty teams/centers, and developed new guidelines for the treatment of pediatric asthma. You’ll have to join us to get the full scoop, but it involves a new pedi asthma score, IV Epinephrine, Epi infusions, and High Flow Nasal Cannulas.
We want you to be here so we can collaborate and learn from your experience too. Please join us in this exploration of how we can improve our decisiveness and expertise at treating these critically ill children!
Learning Objectives:
Analyze current best practices and available evidence for the treatment of pediatric asthma.
Compare available methods of scoring the level of acuity in pediatric asthma exacerbations/status asthmaticus.
Discover resources to shape clinical practice guidelines for pediatric asthma in other programs.
