Dr. Schmidt is a board-certified Anesthetist, Intensivist, Emergency Physician, and ICU Flight Physician with over 16 years of experience in Helicopter Emergency Medical Services (HEMS) and long-haul fixed-wing air ambulance transportation. Beyond her extensive practical expertise, she is actively involved in the training and education of aeromedical professionals.

Dr. Schmidt's passion for patient safety is evident in her advocacy for the establishment of medical guidelines and standards in aeromedical transport medicine. She strongly believes in the importance of research to develop evidence-based practices that ensure the highest level of care for patients in the unique and challenging environment of air transport.
