Joshua B. Brown, MD, MSc, FACS is the Samuel P. Harbison Endowed Assistant Professor of Surgery, Assistant Professor of Critical Care Medicine, and Assistant Professor of Clinical and Translational Science at the University of Pittsburgh where he also practices clinically as a trauma surgeon. He is the PI of the Prehospital Resource Organization and Delivery of Care in Trauma Systems (PRODCTS) laboratory, which focuses on air medical transport, field triage, prehospital resuscitation, and trauma system geospatial optimization. Through the PRODCTS lab he manages the academic/research arm of the Emergency Transport Healthcare Operations and Safety (ETHOS) air medical asset database. He also serves as the Data Core Director for the University of Pittsburgh Trauma and Transfusion Medicine Research Center and Director of the Pittsburgh Surgical Outcomes Research Center. He has funding from the Department of Defense to develop combat evacuation algorithms and the NIH NIMHD to develop a consensus definition of air medical transport need in trauma patients. He also serves as the Vice Chair of the Pennsylvania Trauma Systems Foundation Research Committee and as a member of the Trauma System Development Committee.
